OK hold on, so are both of those reissues taken from the much maligned Nick Davis mixes or from somewhere else? I have only heard the Nick Davis mixes of Selling England by the Pound of which I have a copy and which sounds pretty good overall and A Trick of the Tail which sounds bloody awful!
'Muddy' is a word I have used to describe Foxtrot and Selling England by the Pound as well Steve.
honest answer is I do not know... :) I've never checked out the who was/the story behind the original box set. from a previous conversation I was pointed towards the first box set Foxtrot by Andre (RareBird). I picked up the last Atlantic reish out of interest (It's a desert Island disc). when I was playing one after the other on the same TT I felt the 2013 lacked something..
However I can now do a direct comparison with a Garrard 401/RB300/1042 and a RP25/RB600/1042. I've tried direct comparisons with the same pressing of several albums, and to be honest the difference was so subtle I couldn't hear it. but that's a whole different can of worms inc my ears..
Sometime later this week I'll try the two reissues and come back and let you know how I get on.
Nice one Steve, I'll look forward to that.
Cheers
Loz

Ella in London, from Spotify...
Caught on the wing on April 11th, 1974 at Ronnie Scott's in London. In mono, and kind of raw sounding (but feeling incredibly 'real') Ella's on white hot form (if not, of course, in her youthful prime by this date). I feel I need to know more about this album...
Another underrated band and album - although, it has to be said, this was the best one they did !!!!:guitar::rock:
