Golf R DSG would be my choice of the hot hatch’s.
Two of our technicians have got them and one is running 394bhp/423ft-lb with a stage 2 tune, and that engine can take much more than that.
He’s managed a 3.4 0-60 with launch control, so for a £15K 4x4 car thats pretty good value imo.

You and me both although I'd probs wanna try both manual and DSG to see which I prefer. Have yearned for one of those for a long long time - Limestone Grey or black please, either would do nicely :)

I genuinely can't think of a single reason to buy a manual over a DSG, the latter is really nothing like a traditional auto and can change cogs quicker than any human could.
Every Audi company car i had i always chose DSG without fail.
If you can, try one, i doubt you'd not like it.

Pretty sure my skoda had a dsg auto box. Was great fun

I once asked my father why he never bought a car with an automatic transmission and he replied that he preferred to control the gear changes himself. He never owned a performance car and never drove fast so it wasn't like an automatic would cramp his driving style.

On the other hand his brother never drove manuals and when I asked him why he said 'They've invented a thing that saves you from having to do all that messing about, why wouldn't you have one?'

My mate's is the blue one, at the 'ring earlier this year. It was a grey colour originally, wrapped camo, now wrapped again to this blue.

This is what it looks like at the moment - having the engine and turbos upgraded to 1,200 BHP! He's a bit serious about modding... :eek:

Didn't know they were now a V6 as opposed to the inline six on older ones.

Looks at all those bits. If it was electric, all you'd find inside would be an armature :).
