That Tesla's not bad, Martin (but NEVER in white) - BRUTAL BLACK only, preferably matt, to maximise the MENACE... It'd depend on what the interior was like, and ultimately [very crucially] what it was like to drive, say in comparison with the GTR I showed earlier. ONLY if the Tesla was all-round, no-brainer better, would I entertain it.
Plus, as someone who likes to shun the accepted norm, there's still something satisfactorily 'non-conformist' about [at least for now] sticking two fingers up at the 'all-electric future' we're being forced towards, and driving around in a big, noisy, V6 or V8 'gas guzzler'!:D
Long live the combustion engine.... So here's my message to the authorities, in that respect... :upyours::upyours: :finger:

I much prefer understated cars, when my little Citröen eco box has run its course, I’ll be hunting for a post-2018 Porsche Panamera. 😃
My board engineer has a Tesla Model 3 and he loves it. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, laser guided cornering and the most flexible interior and dashboard ever. Pennies to run and super quiet. No maintenance either, aside from tyres and an occasional ‘glance over’.
Combustion vehicles are numbered, about 15 years’ time will signal the end of the legal sale of new ones pretty much worldwide. Just in time in my opinion.
Big petrol engines will be a thing to behold in the future; the sound, the drama and the passion. But it will be a case of ‘here is how we did things wrong in the past; knowing full well the damage they cause and the fact that oil is finite in the planet, and there’s no alternative to oil (to run a petroleum based engine).
I won’t miss combustion engines at all. Constantly need fiddling with, new this and new that every few thousand miles, wearing out within mileages that even a casual user balks at.
Having said all that, the sound of a 1959 Cadillac Series 62 starting up and driving away will never be replicated by any creation. Something so wonderful about it!

I do agree with your 15 years, max, lifespan for new combustion vehicles (certainly diesel), but that won't detract from a HUGE (several lifetimes worth choice of cars) available on the second-hand market.
In any case, my 'driving lifespan' probably equates to approx 30 years, so as long as I can get to drive what *I* want during that time, I don't give a flying fuck what happens after it!;)

I've driven several GTR's (on the road and on track) and also a Tesla model S, and hand on heart i'd have the Tesla any day of the week.
I've also driven that Civic type R and wasn't particularly impressed, maybe because of the looks of the thing made me want to vomit every time i looked at it.
