Anime? I think I'd probably like that too :)
Some anime films are worth watching. I particularly enjoyed watching 'Spirited Away', though the storyline is typically weird in a Japanese sort of way.
'Fist Of The North Star' - always sticks in my mind as it was baffling to me what the hell was going on.
I think that's the only one I've seen except for first episode of 'Cowboy Bebop' which is supposed to be the best thing ever but I couldn't get into it.
Coincidentally I just noticed last night that this is on at our local Odeon Imax and booked tickets for myself and my granddaughter (21 but still a big kid, much to her mums disgust lol), she's an big Anime and Marvel/DC comic/movie fan.
Neither of us have ever seen it but I told her it's one of the most important Anime movies out there and needs to be seen, unfortunately couldn't get our usual seats so we're not central to the screen but never mind I'm sure she'll love it.
I saw the new A24 film Backrooms today and thought it was really good, but I'm a bit of an A24 fanboy. Stars Renate Reinsve who can do no wrong in my book.
It's taken $118.00 million over it's first weekend, a new record for A24 and was directed by a 20 year old YouTuber called Kane Parsons. That's impressive in days when so many films often struggle to break even. A24 made this on a budget of $10m.

Does anyone actually go to the cinema anymore?
Just wondering as I go a fair bit, always have since the first film I saw in a cinema, 2001: A Space Odyssey, at least I think that was the first film I saw in a cinema, if it wasn't, it's the first one that stands out and I can remember.
Anyway, would be interested to know if you still do, used to go but not anymore, or no, never really have?
I went last autumn to see the new Spinal Tap film, only as some friends were going and asked me along.
Prior to that I went to see 'The Force Awakens' but that was a long time back.
They don't make films that interest me anymore. I suppose I'm no longer in the demographic. If you look at this history of cinema visit numbers (UK only) the low point was 1984 (if you ignore the pandemic), then it went back up and has remained pretty steady since.

So some people go. Young people (under 30) I have worked with seemed to go quite often.
Yeah Gen Z are apparently returning to cinema, as well as buying CD's and records.
From my observations it's mostly people under 30 and over 65 who go most often. But that's a slightly skewed demographic from an Arts Centre, so it might be different in a multi-plex, which I rarely got to. Probably go to the 'big cinema' less than half a dozen times a year.
I saw the new Spielberg (Disclosure Day) on Friday . . . it's not good, or at least I didn't think it was.
