Great album Martin

Frontman Billy Gibbons said about the album:
''It's fair to say that this is a transitional record, although I'm not really sure what we were transitioning from and what we were becoming.''

''Crest of a Knave won the 1989 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental, beating the heavily favoured ...And Justice for All by Metallica and critics' choice Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction.
The Grammy award was controversial as many did not consider the album or Jethro Tull to be hard rock, much less heavy metal. Under advisement from their manager, no one from the band turned up to the award ceremony, as they were told that they had no chance of winning.
In response to the controversy, the band's record label Chrysalis took out an advert in a British music periodical with the line, "The flute is a heavy, metal instrument!"
The Grammy award was split into two categories and renamed after the event.''
I love Martin Barre's playing on this one. Really perfect.
I haven't heard that particular Tull LP, but I would never describe Jethro Tull as 'hard rock'. Rock, yes - but hard rock? No.
In fact Jethro Tull has been cited as one of the bands, and of the type of music that the Punk movement railed against.
There's maybe three tunes on it that could be classed as rock, maybe at a push heavy rock. One 'Tull does Tull' song 'Farm On The Freeway' and the rest is more folk/pop - if there is such a thing.
It's a good album, arguably their last good album - if you like Tull you should get it.
Tull usually classed under 'Progressive Rock', or 'Folk Rock' - used to be anyway, in record shops.
I have a few of their earlier LPs and a couple of compilation CDs. However, based on your endorsement, I'll look out for a copy.
I'm also going to find a copy of the ZZ Top record you cited. Will be a CD copy as the LP is silly money.
