Well, I would describe it as typical late 60's psychedelia reminiscent of Beatles, Stones and Floydish in parts, but being XTC the playing and execution is quite stunning, and in parts somewhat tongue in cheek which goes along with XTC territory, I am quite tempted to get 25 O'Clock album that was release before it.
Well worth a punt IMHO
