Just out of interest how would the additional resonance "colour" the presentation of what I hear? Any ideas?

Well I've just had my first "proper" hour with the new arm board and its bloody good. I intend getting a report up by the end of the week.

Need to scratch the modification itch again. Has anyone used any of this stuff :scratch:

I'm thing for £11 it might be a hoot to try it out and see what happens.

Initially I thought maybe placing some

1) Under the tonearm board
2) Under the MN platter
3) Under the bearing pit

I'll probably take the deck apart and have a look at where it could be beneficial.

I probably would not put it under the tonearm board - it is ebony right? That will have its own sound signature that I believe would be benign.

What I have done is plonked it on spare surfaces underneath the contraption - only the bearing bay and power supply bay are visible. Also taken the platter off and stuck some on most empty surfaces that do not look as if they will interfere with any moving parts. Attach it to metal surfaces only.

Now that I think about it, it would be most effective 'where the rubber meets the road', I may put some round the bearing itself - but I will have to check there is enough room.

The way I think about this is that all extrinsic vibration should be minimised. Ambient room vibration and the sound of the music will hit the chassis. Some of that will transfer to the cartridge. So anything than can be done to absorb that should be a good thing. My anti-vibration strategy is: Massive base (granite slab), isonoes with boots, play with lid off, generous damping of the chassis (with dynamat).

A mild warning of sorts: it is difficult to remove. But the only way this can fail is either it will make no difference or you accidentally swallow some.

Thanks for for the info Andrei

Time for another ?upgrade for the 1210. An internal armpod decoupled from the main chasis which in turn will be mounted on spikes for greater control of Tonearm fine tuning. The design is still being formalised. Pix to folow when it comes to fruition.

I've not posted on here for ages, but today, hopefully a slight change.

Its a full £50 cheaper than the Nagaoka version. I decided nothing ventured, nothing gained. If it dosen't deliver the sonic goods on the 1210 it can go on the Garrard 301 I own. Should be here in a few days.
