It does appear that you are in the horizontal part of the curve, and at this point preferences for one platter material over another, are likely more about tuning for one's particular system and taste rather than the superiority of one platter vs. the other.
Based on your description of the different sonic signature of the new composite platter, that is a direction I don't want to go sonically, so I am perfectly happy to stick with your baseline platter.

Yup - the range of offerings means that synergy with any given system should be more achievable. The difficulty for potential upgraders will be which one to go for.
Isn't this new platter from mike new just the same as the funk firms platter?

Incidentally, as you kindly offered, if you could send a sample platter to Martin (any style will do), he and I will evaluate it and report our findings on the forum next time I'm down at his place :cool:
