Just as a wee aside boys....
Which file format do you prefer: WAV or FLAC?
Space isnt really an issue so it's down to sound quality. Have you heard any difference?
Thanks in advance.
You shouldn't be able to hear a difference between FLAC & WAV and of all the testing I have done between the two I cannot tell the difference, so I only have FLAC for the reduced library size. There are members here who keep both, but play FLAC, with the WAV file is a backup. I guess at the end of the day, try them both and see, but I doubt you would be able to tell the difference in a blind test?

I also know of at least one other person who has this PSU (for the Touch) and they also report and improvement in sound quality (even as I reported in the Here)...Quote:
I imported one of these and could hear an improvement
Have you used this PSU, or do you have experience of it and if you haven't why are you knocking it, is a comment from a user (clive7164) that he found an improvement not enough for you?
I'm sure it sounds good, but a power supply that's more expensive than the device it powers, is a little excessive IMHO...;)
Oh and whilst I'm here FLAC, FLAC, FLAC, FLAC, etc...:)
Ok Maplins have just got back to me about the VN10L.
As suspected they're changing their supplier the...
1.5,3,4.5,6,7.5,9 & 12 v range version is old stock and still in the stores.
Whereas if you order from the web site you will receive the new version which is the 5,6,7.5,9,12,13.2 v range version.
I've just ordered one for my SB3, 5V, it also may be OK for a Beresford as it now goes up to 13.2V :):):)
Happy days!
I don't look at it that way...
My system cost me >£2000, so I look at what upgrades will improve the sound quality and at what cost, in the case of the Touch PSU it would appear that replacing the stock one yields a decent improvement, in my system I don't see how I would effect a better improvement for spending this money on the Touch PSU elsewhere.
I also note that spending £60 on a Mark Grant power cable is not frowned upon but looked upon as a sound investment here on AoS (which I agree with), however, persons could point out that spending £60 on a simple bit of cable is wildly excess and pointless!
I will be interested to see what results this gives.Quote:

I already have two of the original model for each of my SB receivers (@ 9V), and they give tremendous improvements for both the digital and analogue outputs.
As I mentioned in my original post :)
FYI Check out posts 14 & 15 & this thread http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10134
We'll see what happens with the SB3, fingers crossed :eyebrows:
I like the 'economy of scale' that maplins gives
P.S. We've all spent a lot of money on our systems here, it's just a question of what that money gets you, and for the £200 you've spent on a linear PSU for your touch, I've got 3 for my SB players, 2 more for my T-Amps, and have change left over for a Beresford DAC...Oh and a trip round t' world on't QE2 ;)
