Lol, why? What works for one couple won't necessarily work for another. We've just always been really close:)
That's why I always laugh when I hear guys saying that they can't wait to go down the pub to 'get away from the nagging wife', or similar, as such a concept is alien to me...

Must be the circles you move in, I only ever come across the "escape the nagging wife" cracks on 70's sitcoms. Me and Anita love each other's company, and why wouldn't we, we're adorable! But at the same time I'm perfectly happy with just meself for company. I'll be getting bored by the end of the week though.Quote:

Plus, too many men are simply looking for a replacement for their mother, which is even sadder!! I'm happy with my own company too, but only up to a point. I still look forward to Del coming home from work and ensuring that there's a nice cup of tea and/or glass of wine/cocktail waiting for her, and in this weather, her hot-water bottle!:)

Yeah I've seen before on this forum, people referring to 'the wife', 'the boss', SWMBO, but I don't believe they all mean it. They are just reinforcing male stereotypes. Like saying you like football, it's the blokey thing to do :ner:
I'm not at all interested in football and mentally 'wince' when people talk of "the wife", when of course they should be saying "my wife".
Maybe I'm not 'blokey' enough. :scratch:
Ha - perhaps some do (although I'm baffled as to what the attraction is of making out you're under the thumb), but I also know, having met some of them in real life, that there are plenty of henpecked 'hi-fi husbands' out there, and who are certainly used to being bossed around, not only at home, but at work.Quote:
