Being one of the more senior members of AoS, it will not surprise you to know that my musical journey started in the '60s, and as such I became interested in performers and groups of the time; some of which I'm embarrassed now in retrospect to admit I liked. :doh:Quote:

Although contemporaneous, I listened to, but disliked "heavy metal" such as Deep Purple; Black Sabbath; Iron Maiden, and my dislike has not diminished with time. I did/do like Led Zeppelin, but that is due to them being blues-based, rather than the tedious nihilism of most heavy metal groups.
It was through listening to British blues-influenced groups such as John Mayall's Bluesbreakers; Fleetwood Mac; Keef Hartley etc. that encouraged to seek out the US blues players that had influenced them.
That's enough to be getting on with for now - after near 60 years of listening, my musical tastes have expanded enormously, yet I still try to keep up with what is new by watching Jools Hollander 'Later', but rarely find anything there that 'fires me'.

One or two nits I feel need picking:
Firstly the casework, it's absolute crap! Unnecessarily large, it won't fit alongside the other CDs, it needs to stand on its side. Also, "Comfortably Numb" is conspicuous by its absence. This song formed part of the live set, and is included in the DVD/Blu Ray, so why not here? Also much of the vocals are a bit iffy, some of which will be down to guest vocalist Spandau-man Gary Kemp, but I also think Waters' voice is moving past its sell-by date.
Now onto the good bit:
Excellent recording, interspersed with some startling dynamics and subterranean bass which I could feel through the sofa. When CD1 kicked off the cat almost shit herself and made a bolt for the door. The song structures sometimes sounded a bit clumsy, lacking the 'smoothness' of the original versions we know so well, but then it is live, so we probably shouldn't expect it to.The arrangements aren't necessarily worse, just different. And I found that quite refreshing.
All things considered, well worth the six pounds fifty it cost me, and I look forward to next time Anita leaves the house and I can give it some proper welly!
All my opinion of course.
