I was just sharpening a pencil with a craft knife and it occurred to me that this is probably becoming a lost art. How many under twenty five year olds have ever done that.
Most of them wouldn't know what a pencil was, and none of them can be trusted with knives. I always use a Stanley knife to sharpen mine - regular sharpeners are crap, unless it's one of those "stick it in the hole and wind the handle" ones your teacher had on his desk.
They have a pencil museum in Keswick - never been, but I hear it's nothing to write home about :D

Ha - that's quite funny... Not that I have any need for pencils these days, but I was using a propelling pencil, midway through primary school in the 70s, so no need for pencil sharpeners;)Quote:

I have propelling pencils, but prefer a traditional wooden pencil for drawing fine detail as I find it easy to get a fine point with a bit of emery paper.
A Sukhoi SU-57 would more more interesting and a sight quicker though. :)Quote:
