It's quite fun, very colourful orchestral palette.
Reminds me a bit of Ligeti (not that I'm an expert on Ligeti, but I've heard a bit) but more approachable.
The 1st two pieces total 30 minutes.

I have not heard that particular recording, but he is certainly one of my favourite 'modern' composers. Agreed on playing his stuff loud!

Played this 3 times yesterday. Very impressive.
Slow mvt reminded me a lot of Shostakovich's PC slow mvts - you cannay give higher praise than that, imo.

Fantastic. Such gloriously rich tonal colourings, those plangent Russian woodwinds, those surging strings. :eek:
