Another Invicta

That last Invicta with the cyclops is cracking. A very well done sub homage, but made it their own.
I’ve gone very simple today
A Speedbird 1 from Eddie Platts, an old friend from Sheffield who went on to make some fantastic watches following this one.

Nice uncluttered design there Steve, what's the movement? Invictas generally use the NH35A.

Hi Roy
It’s an ETA 2836-2, a 25 jewel 28,800bph automatic movement.
Got it nearly 20 years ago.. still going strong!

Nice one.
If it's longevity we're talking about I got this Citizen for my 18th birthday making it over 43 years old & still keeping good time. It's a little small at 36mm but that was the norm back then.

Funnily enough, the design actually looks quite contemporary now!
Nothing new under the sun.

One of my few quartz watches, this one's got a bit of a loud, intrusive tick.

Yer not sellin it to me Roy

Well that went back in the box, it was like it was ticking your life away..
Fossils were in the same box so bunged this on, Novel way of adjusting the date, the crown pulls out as normal to adjust the hands then a further pull on the crown changes the date.

That’s better
A touch of Art Deco going on.
Nice

Stylish Grant and it fits!
only just.. its 9.45" strap. its at as long as it goes.. pleased it fitted:)
Other one I got for boy but I might just keep it as it fits too.

And it suits that fine mesh bracelet.

Yes, like that one to, looks like the kind of watch Optimus Prime might wear.
I look that up.
Megalithic it is

Autobots, roll out
Decided to keep the megalith and the all black version too.
They are quite good.
Will get the boy something else.
The black onehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b4d36ed040.jpg
Another ubiquitous Parnis
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cc6fe1f54e.jpg
Glad I was made aware of Parnis.. thanks.
Fantastic value, and actually incredibly well made.
With this one my only issue is that once again there is not sufficient contrast between the hands and the face, so making it tricky to see sometimes.
Nightmare

You'll have a two watch a week habit before you know it.
Constantly amazed for the money, a quality timepiece for around £40? Is that Daytona homage a quartz Steve?
Hi Roy
Yes it’s a quartz.
I like that the font and Parnis styling look like their own brand rather than simply copies. Of course they are.. but look a tad classier than that.
I ordered an Alpha brand orange thingy. ...never arrived but I suppose it might do one day.
It’s an Omega copy.. but looking at the pictures again, wish I hadn’t bothered. I blame wine fuelled purchases

Couple of nato straps arrived. One a bond replica apparently.
Nice quality

I especially like the one on the right. Looks like a proper regimental nato.

My NATOs and 1 Zulu (I think they’re called?)

And with the vintage bond strap

Nice straphttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8cb50805db.jpg
No, didn't have one. Used a mini screwdriver
Scuba Dude! (and I know the date's wrong, couldn't be arsed to adjust it)
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e9c0e193_h.jpg
& another NATO strap win :)

This again [emoji23]

Same here.. on repeat!
I was thinking about the size of this. Complete opposite to yours Grant. Tiny really.. but I like the fact that all watches used to be this size. When did they all get to big?!

my pic is a bit shakey lol.. i like smallish watches too.. in fact i prefer them tbh. wouldnt say that one of yours is small tho.. unless you have a small arm
When I can be arsed to get up (sitting in the shade in the garden listening to podcasts) I’ll take a comparative pic

It was either Sly Stallone or Arnie who discovered the Panerai brand in Italy & bought one for all their Hollywood mates that started the fashion for big watches apparently? (there was a yt video about it but I can't find it just now)
The Gigandet is what I think of these days as being fairly standard size.
I’m guessing the Speedbird is 38 mm, the strap is 18mm
See what I mean?

Another NATO transformation (40mm excluding crown [emoji6])
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...32a45efa58.jpg
Yes, think that's what they were aiming at.
I think that came as a spare strap with a watch I got off ebay?
Plenty of sellers selling 'em

Dunno how these will come out on the big screen.
Was bored last night and did them on phonehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...87036294a6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9badba57e0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8b0683e9a7.jpg
Yet another Invicta Sub homage (they do it well though)
