Scott amp be quick
Meridian 'M1' speeka's presently running, you don't see many of these nowadays..
Nearly bought a pair a few years back
Does this amp sound any good
......or is it a bit fizzy sounding?

It's old solid state, I would guess it would need some refurbishment of at least the caps. As for 'phono outputs', ho ho ho.
I know some of you guys are into the Tannoy Golds, saw a set on ebay 10' drivers no bids as yet, £800 starting bid 2 days to go.
And no i'm not the seller and he's not my mate, here's the link though.

not so cheap
You could buy two sets of Berkeleys for £800 not that long ago :(
Pair of RAM '150' speekas running quid start seem to have lost their original Audax tweeters for what look like a pair of Tonnoys tweeters fitted instead!
Bargain or not - what a ghastly creation! I love 70s retro but this just doesn't work visually, IMO, though can you imagine a suitable "pad" for it, you can almost smell the Old Spice and Watney's Party 7... :)

I love it! I wonder if Barbarella comes with it? Funnily enough Mrs B figured it was 'rather tasty' as well. Shame I don't have the cash!
I expect it'd be compulsory for any pad with one of these in:

and one of these... (I bet Andre will love all this gear...?)

Very "Space 1999"!
does anyone know anything about the Kef 101/2 speakers, there's a nice set on eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT I used to have the predecesors to them i think
If you can get them well away from room boundaries, use a powerful amp with an assertive character (fettled Naim CB or big bad Krell (even a 300 integrated would do rather than Quad for example)) and chunky speaker cables, then you might just get a halfway decent noise from them IMO. This was from the relative period when positec protection was used and a ruler flat response counted for everything and sod the dynamics in the process. The ruler flat response became a mid-bass hump in most domestic rooms and the lack of "verve" could count against it unless you listen exclusively to chamber music and/or string quartets - the 104/2 well sited is tons better and may not cost hugely more perhaps.
They'll cost ya, but some mk2 versions of the JR149's seem well liked and hold good residuals. and many of the non BBC small Rogers' used to get preety fair to excellent reviews too, as did Celestion DL8's and Tannoy M20 Gold and Venus, if you want a civilised personality from your speakers.
Any thoughts...

You'd need a variac or transformer as it's 220v only.
8 track anyone
If you like 70's vintage kit then check this out. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

May be worth a punt if it finishes cheap enough (thanks t Labarum for the link :)). Sweet toned and will drive 4 Ohm loads, the lack of inputs isn't as big an issue as you'd think - two line plus tape loop.
These Rams have just over 3hrs to go if anyone is interested http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Old Garrard for your gramophone, these things keep turning up, amazing

Hi Mike
Kinda wish i had now, but i'd have prefered a pair of RAM 200's, but must call it a day now,it's been a lifelong obsession for me, the reason i've had so many speakers..
I'm gonna get those Mordaunt Short 'Pageant 2' speeks'a restored & rebuilt when they arrive, call it a day then, i'll rarely use em anyway.
Here ya go Andre, maybe these are not up to snuff cosmetically for you, but I've never seen a pair on Ebay before........
