A very big thank you and very big thumbs up to Grant (Struth) for his Mission 737R speakers that I took a punt on, and have just set up this evening.

They sound wonderful, and considering that they are 30 years old are in immaculate condition. A credit to Grant and his brother.

I know Grant took an age packing these speakers securely and safely to withstand the rigours of postage via UPS, and my hat's off to you sir for your packaging skills!

Indeed, perfect transaction.

I'm rather enjoying the Ortofon Samba, punches well above its weight, very reminiscent in shape and sound of the old MC20 MkII which was a pricey cartridge in its day, though the Samba has a much healthier output.

You should be able to refinish those Quad power amps, the actual facia plates look ok it's just the removable top & bottom edge aswell as the grab handles/sinks that are chipped up..

Yes, the black grab handles/heatsinks will no problem, but the top and bottom edge are finished in Quad 'bronze', which is more difficult to touch up. You used to be able to get the paint on eBay but it is no longer available. There is a Volvo car paint that is very close match, so I may get my local car service/repair place to do an entire re-spray. Actually the amps are in better cosmetic condition than the photos would lead you believe.

And here's me saying one of my objectives for 2015 was to dispose of excess equipment! I will - in time. :eyebrows:

Many thanks to Jerry (jandl100) for the boxed set of Chopin piano works. (Also thanks for the additional Julian Bream and Verdi/Rossini LPs, used as 'packaging'. The latter are actually in good condition and are a useful addition. I'm playing the Concerto de Aranjuez as I type.)

The man is an absolute star :champagne:

Cart arrived superbly packed within what seemed like minutes after I paid for it (OK - actually about 2 days...)
Was packed to withstand a nuclear meltdown situation !!
Popped it on the deck and it plays like a dream......

Top marks that chap :respect:

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to thank Brian for building me a couple of Klotz MC5000 cables one with MS Star Line Phono plugs at each end and the other with MS Star Line Phonos at one end and Neutrik gold plated 1/4" jacks to interface with my Crown D60 power amp. Both cables have been beautifully made and have given my system a new lease of life with much better resolution and an even response over the whole audio spectrum. Listening to my system now is like hearing it with all the mud n crud stripped away, wonderful!

Brian is a top chap to do business with and kept me fully informed of progress. Nice one Brian!
