Those pics of your 8-track and Nakamichi are lovely Andr'e... you've got a knack for tracking down mint-condition kit, that's for certain! My 8-track needs a mechanical cleanup. It sounded nice, but chewed a tape a while back and I've not been through it all to make sure it's completely clean along the tape path. It was a cart of my fave Byrds album too :(
I always open my cart's and clean the pinch-roller and re-pad them if they need it, because with 8-tracks the system is far more dependent upon good condition cartridges than cassette, but that time I got caught out. Once bitten...
It's surprising how many NOS carts there are out there, with good music on them. And for not much money. It's just a shame they more often than not were produced without sleeves, or with just generic slipcases.
My fave 8-track has got to be my 'Animals' one by Pink Floyd... the unique version of 'Pigs On The Wing' an' all.
If money were no object which stereo 8-track would you recommend? I recall Pioneer did one under the Centrex brand (the Centrex RH 60 /65) which came from c. 78-79 and would look very nice next to the RT-707. But I suspect Aiwa had the high-end cornered.
