The only one I own is by Karl Richter, so I would have to say that's my favorite. However, I have a Lionel Rogg cd on the way where he performs that piece, and I like his playing quite a lot, so who knows? Could be Rogg, could be Richter. I'm in the very early stages of this project, and so far my favorite organists for Bach are Richter, Rogg, Kevin Bowyer, and Marie-Claire Alain (not necessarily in order of preference).Quote:

I heard one movement from Batiz's Sheherazade on a sampler CD and was impressed. Even more impressed by all of it! Mackerras on Telarc had previously been my fave, and it is a bit better recorded than the Naxos, but I suspect the Batiz trumps it as a performance.

- played the piano trio #1 and really enjoyed it - probably the best Rubbra I have heard - much more to my tastes than Rubbra's orchestral works. I like the string quartets, too.

Rangell has a bit of a reputation of coming from the left field as far as interpretation is concerned, but I really enjoyed his Art of Fugue. :thumbsup: He has recorded quite a bit of Bach; Goldbergs, the 6 Partitas etc. They are on my Tidal playlist. :)
