I keep poking about on eBay for a 'present' to me, but I can't find anything that takes my fancy apart from these KLH speakers that I don't have room for.

domes look rusty.lol. and pick up London only......
No, that's the brown glue holding the tweeter grilles on. The are actually dome/cone units and sound very sweet (I've got a pair stashed away). Yes it is London collection. That's what I find frustrating, they're cheap, I'm not far away and I really want them, but I've run out of room! :(
The woofer surrounds look like they may need attention.
Yeah, collection only. Otherwise I would be tempted to make an offer. I find it occasionally frustrating that so many nice things are collection only.
just bought them :)
Rare and unusual...

Wharfedale Airedale project.
So you bought the Model 23s Jamie.
I've heard a quite a few KLH models and always liked them (I remember when they were on the UK market). I've owned a couple of pairs and they sounded sweet and punchy (quite similar to vintage ARs). Let us know how you get on with them.
You may need to do a recap and rewire to get the best from them. Should be very easy, as I believe there's only one capacitor and the wiring is simple. You could probably install modern terminals too. If you have tweeter problems, I have a spare pair of what I believe are the correct ones. If the cloth surround doping (sticky coating) on the bass drivers has become porous, I can advise you on treating this.
Enjoy them! :)
thanks mate, after your advice i thought id have a punt, ive talked to the seller and by all accounts both sets of drivers are working fine, although as you say, after so long a recap is most defiantly needed,i might even get my hands dirty this time and have a go myself! :)
I reckon you've got yourself a bargain there Jamie. Probably because not many people in this country know about them. In the US they are well regarded. I think they should realistically be worth a couple of hundred quid to a serious vintage buff, especially in tidy condition like these..
Yep, if they could have been posted I'd have had em.;)
Just bought this:

I've lusted after one for the last five years, but they're a bit dear new (at least £1200 for a cartridge is by my standards). Hopefully, this will be a good one!
This will be four ZYXs in my collection now. I may sell one of my R100s.
Nice one Geoff.
Hopefully it is.
I'll have to flog something now. :)

Alright Andr'e ? Good to see you here again, flying visit or otherwise
Now I'm no David Bailey but do you think the seller was in need of a drink when taking the pictures ? Appears to have been suffering from the dreaded withdrawal shakes ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOSE-505-S...item3f44f81ec2

There really are some daft people about. This Michell dust arm has now been bid up to £155 so far. Why?

I remember these. Allison were well regarded.
I heard 6's & 7's in the 80's they were great, nice looking speaker too.

only thing that will kill that is his zero feedback.
The wooden Pritchard AC-40 arm is a pretty rare beast! £800 seems a reasonable price for a mint sample of deck and arm. It would need a good service as I expect the grease has become dry with time; the seller claims the deck has remained unused in the box for 25 years.
Could be a laugh for a tenner http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/wharfedale...item259db6bf39
