I don't remember it from when I lived around there, 20 years ago. Used to walk across the park to Inverness Street twice a week for my fruit and veg. Yes, but there's one in another town within a reasonable driving distance from you, as we've discussed before.... You just need to be arsed to make the effort to go there! ;)
I travel all over the place to go to record shops, even though there is one in Wrexham.
Liverpool, Chester and Manchester are my most regular and favourite haunts, all of which are between 30 minutes to an hour away. You can't always expect interesting record shops to be right on your doorstep :)

I really rate Les Aldrich in Muswell Hill - mainly classical, some jazz and starting to reintroduce vinyl.
IIRC, it was bought last year by a City lawyer who has a passion for music and he is investing quite heavily in it. He has plans for small live sessions, a listening booth etc. All we need is a milk bar next door and we'll be back to the Fifties!

Might be usefull to put all the outlets together in one place so you don't have to trawl the thread?
Could even be put on a spread sheet and the data sorted by post code so you can spot what is local to you easily? :)

Lol... I wasn't missing the point, dude. I know that you buy used and brand new vinyl (let's not forget that some of the shops mentioned on this thread sell both).
The point I was making is that even though there isn't an independent record shop 'on your doorstep' in Basingstoke, there's one within easy reach, unless you consider a 45-minute drive to Reading, in a rather nice BMW, as being in some way 'difficult'? ;)
I regularly travel to Liverpool and Manchester, which are a similar distance from me, for vinyl buying trips, as well as simply going out for a meal (if travelling there is worth it)! :cool:
