Yeah I would agree, although I to tend to like a wide range of speakers, including the previous 104/2s which are about as opposite as you can get to a single full-range-driver.
The overall plan is to try and get a mix of the dipole/soundstage advantages of the Maggies with the high sensitivity of the full-range-drivers, and bass depth of the 104/2s. While not getting the disadvantages like low sensitivity of the MMG's, lack of bass punch/output from the FR drivers and better bass control than the 104/2s.

Certainly had a very good effect, bass is a lot more even, still not perfect though. Bit more playing around I think. :)

You should find that the room sounds less 'shouty' and that finger-snapping gives less flutter echo. The big benefit will be in detail extraction in the midrange.

Planning a diffusor of some sort behind the sofa (listening position) and some foam panels on the front wall between the TV and speakers.
No idea why I never thought to do it before considering how cheap it can be!

I have a PicturePanel behind my head and that makes a big difference to transparency and insight. Panels above and behind each speaker make a significant difference to intelligibility, the one on my TV has less of an effect, surprisingly.

I have a GIK acoustic panel behind my listening chair, and that performs as Martin describes - but panels behind my MBLs were not a good idea! :nono: They worked very well with my previous Infinity ribbon hybrids, mind.

GIK are good and reasonably priced. No import costs, either. I know you're making your own, Rob, but just for interest.

Cheers chaps, well aware of the GIK panels, there have been some for sale S/H going for £50/ea or so, so I may look into getting some S/H.
Been recommended a diffuser to go behind the listening position (sofa).

And a T-Amp has arrived courtesy of Clive, doesnt sound at all bad.
Certainly a leaner/brighter presentation compared to the Eagle, but I think thats down to the Eagles more rounded presentation at both frequency extremes.
The T-Amp will be used for backup once the Decware is built.
The Decware build it sheduled to start in the next week or two hopefully, and there may well be a new Pre-Amp in the coming weeks too!

Sounding really good, the remote control is nice too! Plenty of room for tube rolling with 4x 12AX7s on the Inputs and 4x 12AT7 on the Phono stage! Loads of older ECC81 and ECC83 to try!
Could be a keeper, soundstage is noticeably more focused and a little extra detail without being bright. Much the same change I got when moving to the Icon LA3.
