Ah 'The Girl from Ipanema'. I have one of her albums, bought years ago. At the time I confessed to a fellow music-loving friend of mine: "I must be getting old, I've just bought an Astrud Gilberto record!".

Gregory Porter – ‘Nat “King” Cole & Me’

Gregory sings the songs of Nat King Cole, which would be fine as Porter has a lovely voice, but the recording is, IMO, let down by the most syrupy string sound of the London Studio Orchestra. Definitely not to my taste - shame!
So as an antidote the next record played went in the complete opposite direction with:

Good ‘ol down to earth blues with lyrics, which at times make it obvious it’s the sort of thing that would have been performed in the city brothels at the time.
