I enjoyed this even though I felt I shouldn't. :)
Taut, a bit fast, a tad lacking in emotional depth, excitingly braying brass.
Naughty but nice. :D
Dipped into a couple of recent digital recordings of Schubert's Death and The Maiden Quartet (including the Pavel Haas) but reverted to the 1971 John Boyden recording of the Gabrielis on CFP vinyl. Masterly, with a narrow - and hence realistic - soundstage. Wonderful!
