cheers for the congratulatory comments everyone :) ... early days yet, still just in first trimester for another couple of weeks ... wish us luck... im shitting my self for the safety and survival of the little shrimp (as its currently known) ... still, i have already seens its heart beat on a screen ... that was pretty exiting i can tell ya!
After two false starts, which were very stressful, I was invited in once the first scan looked positive. To see this little pin-point beating/flashing on the screen was a huge point in my life. We had fortnightly scans from then on, just to be sure, up to 15 weeks, and to see this little dot grow into something properly resembling a little human was humbling in the extreme. Argumentative little so and so at the moment though, but I love him more than life :)
Ours was "prawn" for ages, then after the first scan my Missus said "it's got your chops" (we didn't find out the sex, so she was an "it" until birth) - so Chops became her nickname, and it has stuck - we still call her Chops more than anything else, the poor little thing! (And I'm Mr Chops and Mummy is Mrs Chops!) Fingers crossed for you Hamish - I'm sorry to tell you that the shitting yourself for the safety and survival is unlikely ever to stop - certainly hasn't for me for the last 3 years and I doubt it ever will! Congratulations again buddy, you're in for a great journey!
Blimey Colin - you obviously didn't have an uphill paper round like I did - you look younger than Hamish! (agree with you about the dress sense though! ;) )
:o I need a bit of help from Gok Wan i think.
Does that to you, doesn't it? When my wife was first pregnant I became incredibly protective and almost a survivalist - I was hiding improvised weapons and torches around the house, planning escape routes whenever we stayed anywhere like a hotel - the Missus got quite worried about me at one stage! Nature's way, I guess - the paternal instinct certainly took me by surprise though!
Aren't mates handy, & i'm not talking about the type that are housed in a plastic packet
