Who remembers these Technics Limited Edition from the 1990s?

Not a fan of blingy equipment usually but I wanted one just because it's so over the top.

Bold move by Technics, turntable industry was on its arse around that time. I wonder how much it sold for back then, and how much a standard non-blingy version went for.
An SL1200 was £450 in 1995 - I think the blingy one was around £700.
Goodness they look awful! :spew:
In the right context would match, say atop this Pioneer Elite stack for example:

Interesting Heco speakers from the 1980s

Untested, can't even be arsed to wipe the crud off them, but still asking the thick end of two grand.
They are hideous.
And an extra £450 to have them shipped from Spain - just lash them onto some empty oil barrels and leave them on the beach at Calais, someone will bring them across the channel for free.
There is a certain "je ne sais quoi" about them, the barrel thing could work out!
A pair of Castle Trents for £15? Don’t mind if I do!

They do voices very well, perhaps a little light bass wise but that might be the source. Will try them on the end of the Luxman later for shits and giggles.
These were from a local charity shop ‘sold as seen’, the fact that the grills were still present and in good condition was a good indication that they’d been looked after.
Recently picked up a SoTM sMS-200 Neo Ultra for £520 from Fleabay , must say it's met and exceeded my expectations.
These are a bargain currently, if you happen to be anywhere near Cobham... Ruark Templar, and apart from the usual fading due to having their grilles on (and a badge missing) they look in great condition.

This made me smile, not the optimistic price, but the vision of one extremely frustrated person, hands dripping with glue, attacking the speaker with a Dremel.

Well at least the seller is being honest. He probably repaired the speakers whilst listening to a certain Rolling Stones LP. ;)
Either way it was Dirty Work and presumably The Last Time they will attempt such a repair.
Hope so - the only way they could make it look worse was if they were to Paint it Black.
That would really Mess It Up (now having to trawl the depths of their catalogue!)
Instantly go from nothing to being a major player in the exciting world of hi-fi hoarding:

There is absolutely nothing there of interest to me!
I also have fewer obsolete satellite receivers than he does.
Isn't there a UK satellite signal any more now everyone's got cable or are they just based on an obsolete technology? I see our local Turkish cafes all have dishes so I presume there's still Turkish language channels available.
I wouldn't mind the air rifle with the telescopic sight but I wouldn't want to have to take away all the electronic dross with it.
I think there are still satellite channels available but those receivers look properly old.
The Italian tailor that used to be down the street from me, he had Italian telly via satellite, in his back room. The dish is still there although the shop closed more than ten years ago now.
Not eBay, not a bargain, not hi-fi related - featured in the Popbitch newsletter, and too good not to share - apparently not someone from TOWIE - maybe a footballer?

Who says money can't buy taste?
I heard that Stevie Wonder did the interiors.
Don't like it at all, the outside either.
I was looking at this one the other day, not far from me but the location is excellent. It also needs redecorating but it's a bit cheaper than yours:

Take away the flat screen TV and that’s my granny’s house, circa 1990! I love how the stair carpet got a photo all of its own, like it was one of the desirable features, but yes, a bargain and a good project for someone! I reckon that would be double that down here.
RAM 200 Speakers. Look to be in fabulous condition and with original boxes - I doubt you'll ever find a pair this nice again... I can only speculate, but if the 200's are as good as the 150's I have then these would be a total bargain (well, depending on what they go for of course!)

If they were near me be hard to resist.
Bit ugly. But looks aren't everything, as Mrs. P often tells me :)
How is the preamp powered, or is it passive? Otherwise I like it. :)
It's a "passive controller". Says so on the back. Is Michi a prestige arm of Rotel, like TAD Laboratories is to Pioneer?
Stocked Michi back in the day and it wasn't up to much.
Gorgeous I think! (The Michi!) So yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
Based on the looks and reviews, so did I, but...
That's one pair of ears I would definitely trust! So if Dave says no, it's a no from me...
Anyway, I've got to save my money for those RAM speakers I'm not going to be buying...
