Following Adrian's championing of Santana's first LP, I thought I ought to dig it out and listen to it again. Sorry, I still prefer 'Abrasas' - I found the initial and infectious enthusiasm displayed by the band on their debut album quickly palls. Even so it was an enjoyable 40 minutes.
Dont get me wrong Abraxas is good but it is the start of a more commercial and produced sound IMO, whereas in the first you can here that they laid the tracks down with hardly any overdubs.Quote:
