The seller must have changed the description, as there is no mention of Metrosound or electrostatic. The heading is now: "vintage type speakers goodmans elac", so I presume the drive units are by Goodmans and Elac.

isn't that because,as geoff said he doesn't know what they are?
The speaker for sale looks very similar to the Metrosound Duplex 15:
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/qbwAA...VU/s-l1600.jpg,
though the one for sale looks shorter in height. I would have thought there would be a Metrosound label on the rear if it was a genuine Duplex.
Maybe the original electrostatic tweeter was problematic and an owner fitted the Elac unit as a replacement.
I thought electrostatic speakers required mains voltage? The ebay item does not appear to have mains input.
They do and it's noted in that old advert Geoff posted. I didn't see any mains input in the pics either but they don't cover every inch of the speaker even though there's loads of them.
They do seem to be a close match to the one in the Metrosound advert though. I'd never heard of them and there's not much on the web. There's a company called Metrosound doing in car audio, I wonder if it is the same firm?
Hmm. Celestion UL6 "Broadcast Monitor"? Never heard of them described as that before, they are just domestic compact speakers as far as I know.

Well if they ''sound amazing'' with some sort of ''profile'' (whatever that means) then they must be good
Don’t see these up for grabs very often!

Never seen these before they look amazing, looks like you need a few amps to power them. However, it looks like it could be quite a messy business.............
'the sounds Ist prefect can’t try when you come this speaker ist very warm sounds'
I must have been living under a rock as I’d never heard of the Matrix 800 before either - review on Stereophile pretty much says they are the best speaker ever... face only a mother could love, though... there’s a pair with a dealer for £6k, so that’s the top limit you’d expect to see them go for, will be very interesting to see what they make, although as eluded to, the description could be better... looking at other items for sale and previous sales I don’t think it’s a scam, though. Would love to hear them, but unless they go for the starting price that won’t happen!
They look like the sort of speaker Darth Vader would use.
Hopefully they won't sound like Darth Vader or I'd be sending them back. They must sound amazing, because that's a look only a mother could love.
What were they thinking? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194490861...kAAOSwL8pgxjoZ
They look nothing like my DM2As.
I wonder how the bass units perform without the TL loading.
Grabbed this one to go with the Amp and CD Player :)The full set now Nicceee :)

Nice to have the set.
Just got back into radio myself. I didn't get on with my Rotel tuner I'd had for years, so never used it. Treated myself to a cheapo Marantz ST-385L AM/FM/LW unit that does the job just fine, I like the station pre-sets. Cost me a whopping £18.95 including delivery! :)
Cheap as chips to add to the set lovely looking thing - Love a good tuner here too they are the cheapest thing in HI FI to buy at the moment :) still have the greats Quad FM 3 , 4 , Denon 260L , Sony ST 88 and Aiwa R30 - :):)
Should be here in a couple of days I'll rig it up interesting to compare it to other tuners was £200+ when released the 504 not much online and not many know the mod either
Another (modest) tuner collector here; most of which have been bought off eBay:
Quad AM1
Quad AM3
Quad FM2
Quad FM3
Quad FM4
Leak 'Troughline' Stereo
B&O 1700
Cambridge T55.
Yet I only listen to two or three stations.
A bit of a drift from the Ebay Bargains thread, but as you are all talking tuners... What are your thoughts on DAB in a hifi setting? I'd like to be able to get some DAB stations (like R6 Music) but not if it's going to sound crap.
NAD 3020a prices are getting silly: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265413096...0AAOSwrrhhl8NV
It's a reasonable choice as a vintage budget amp and not unpleasant to listen to, if not desperately exciting. It's just not worth spending a lot on and this one isn't even particularly tidy.
checking sold listings over past two months give a rough average sold price of about £130. Given they look good (I think) and are not too bothered by low impedance loads I think they are a reasonable option at that sort of money. I'd take one over a brand new Rega Io any day of the week.
I'm round my mate's tonight, who has a 3020 he no longer uses. If he could get a ton for it he'd be buzzing, especially as he's just replaced it with a nice Sony TA2650 (which he prefers) and a Trio t/t for a combined cost of twenty quid.
Wow - a Yamaha GT-2000 in the UK! I thought mine was the only one!
VERY good price, too.

“though shall not covet thy neighbour’s goods” (I think it is) but my, if I had fifteen hundred quid doing nothing in my sock draw... (oh no, just given away my secret cash stash location!). No worries, it’s empty currently due to the price of fuel!

More daft pricing. £445 for Dynaco A25 speakers.

Overpriced butchered horrors. Apparently "speakers can't get much better".

These look a decent price for anyone near Lambeth.

Price: £ 45
Seems you can't leave negative feedback for ebay traders any more. So the conmen get a free pass? Charming!
Apologies, I meant buyer, not seller.
It’s been a long day….
Not eBay, but here’s something you don’t see every day!
