That CD1 is a bit of kit I've always coveted. :smoking:

I would have liked to have heard how it measures up to modern players. When I first listened to one it was streets ahead of anything else, even the MCD.

Will post more later, (just having my dinner) but just wanted to say what a fab day out, and really good to meet a few more AoS'ers.

i've been feeling depressed all day... i missed out due to the daughters dance show....

Looks like Adam did himself proud with this set up , looks a great system and that monster Techie 2 box cassette deck looks a serious bit of kit , loving the TT's too , and those Leak's:)

You mean the Cambridge CD1 actually WORKED, and for some hours too????? - YIKES!!!!!
The bloody rats nest of wires inside and myriad RS transformers was not a joy to behold I can tell you.

I shall reserve comment on the Leak 2075's Adam spent so long restoring. I'd rather have some vintage IMF's any day - or Spendor BC3's, or Monitor Audio MA3's - ok ok, I'm spoiling it ;)

I shall attempt to get out of my lazy bed next year if such a show is repeated. I spent all afternoon playing with yet another Technics SL1500 and this one seems different in motor-feel/overshoot to the one Alex has (which has no overshoot). Better or worse I cannot say without more research.

It certainly did! Unlike the poor Technics Cassette deck which had sadly decided to get stage fright... :(

(The "error meter" (for want of its real name) on the CD1 was quite disturbing though!)

Just a quick one, as I'm not long in and totally shattered.... Great to meet some you today for the first time, such as Mark (Reid Malenfant) Alex UK, Andrew (Flatpopely), etc, as well as meeting again Mark (YNWAN), Jonboy, Steve Toy, Alfie, Guy Sergeant, Nick Gorham, Tony L (from pfm), Adam (Beobloke), Philip (Baron), Chris (Tecnobear), amongst others, and of course members of the mod team such a Nick and John :)

Special thanks go to Steve Toy for loaning us the use of his superb Eikos CDP, AW mains block and QS Ref acrylic stands, without which our system would'nt have been the same.

Anyway, hope you guy enjoyed the system - we certainly listened to plenty of choons and had a few giggles... :cool:

Off to catch up on some sleep now - only got four hours last night! :goodnight:
