You could always go on a barista course. you'd learn everything and they would give you the feel for the different types of machines etc too. If your gonna spend a lot of cash its worth it.

Is anyone using a hand grinder like the Hario ones?
I'm finding that ground espresso I buy in the stores just isn't fine enough to get the best out of my machine so might give one a go ...
I use a hand grinder. a Lido3, expensive but superb build quality and will grind down to Turkish ... as long as your not making gallons of the stuff its better than an electric. comes in a padded case etc so you can take it with you if you want.
