That is tasty. Going to go for a fair whack too by the bidding.
Looks pretty solid and in good nick - but £225 (at the moment)?
Spendor S8e, a quality speaker here for £599 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spendor-S...AAAOSw2bVfhaB6

Fast forward eats the tape :)
Tape is only for Dropouts.
Incoming to the collection a total original pair of Wharfedale Diamond
Quality.
Was looking at old Diamonds on eBay the other day. Tidy ones have held their value well.
Bargain? Ten full range drive units in the West Country. Vintage Eagle PA speakers that I'm fairly certain contain FR8 drivers, which were actually 8" full range Coral drivers. Very rare now and extremely good, better than the sought after Philips 9710M. Collect only. If these were local to me, I'd keep quiet and nab them for myself :).

My telefunkens drivers were used in a church array. Got 7 of 10" drivers still. Really good drivers and these look to be of similar quality
WOW!

(I've no connection to the vendor, whatsoever.)
How could I have missed this?

Because, done well*, the sound can be excellent!:ner:;)
*Only with quality NOS blank tapes [not prerecorded shite], used for making recordings from your own system, and providing that the heads and everything else inside the machine in question is performing optimally.
Given that's the case, I've heard the best tape decks outperform some CDPs. Also, when applied to car audio, the better ones piss all over anything digital!:)
Marco.
Disagree. With a top deck, top quality metal tape and a lot of care results can be 'acceptable' at best. Compact cassette is fundamentally compromised as a medium. More so even than vinyl. There'll be an Edison wax cylinder revival next. Followed by people walking about with minstrels in tow. Some things best left in the past but nostalgia appears to be a powerful tweak.
Worth a first bid?
12 minutes to go and no bids at £2000

Quad amps and tuner with a rather unusual tonearm

Any ideas what this might be worth?

I see we're thinking along the same lines Mike. :)
Ah, a tad over maybe. It's about 20 miles from me. May message them and ask if they'd sell the arm separately. Cheers. :)
If anyone fancies a really nice pair of big old Goodmans speakers and isn’t averse to an easy re-foam job, then these RB65s in Leeds are a bargain:

Just noticed, there’s another pair in Birmingham!

A good little Dab system , and small studio monitors , I would have thought !! ( if you are in the Stoke area)
“I've had it in storage since I purchased it so am not sure if it's working or not”
Call me a cynic, but I’ll have a tenner on ‘Not Working’!

Well it looks generally horrible. Mind you, the Dual TT could be OK, but not at that price.
Seller refurbished.....really!!!!
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acoustic-...8AAOSwCh5fhbC2
That's a shame, the AR3a was a lovely speaker.
(Is the "seller refurbishment" the adhesive tape covering what looks like the wiring to some of the drive units? I don't remember seeing anything like that on the ones I heard back in the '70s.)
I think the 'refurbishment' was new surrounds on the bass drivers. The sticky tape, I've seen before and think it may have been original.
Well, I had assumed that the tape hanging off was the seller's attempt at refurbishing! I suppose at the time those were a current model no-one removed the grilles,
I've seen similar tape on other AR models. Presumably to stop the fine wires getting snagged, it does seem crude though.
Not met reserve again !. Hardly talks them up, me thinks, which could be good or bad thing I suppose. Overhauled at Wembley loudspeakers he states.
Strange way to sell, price for one but Clearly you need two ?. Eyes and wool arrange the words anyway you wish.
Double apologies as it's not eBay and not hi-fi but I really do fancy this!
