Music Coming Soon to a TV Near You

Oh, I found it fascinating - how the longer playing time the 12" LP could afford, allowed musicians to break away from the 2 -3 minute pop single constriction. And the battle to have radio stations embrace LP tracks.

Agreed the emergence of the 'concept album' was a little muddled (with that of the so-called 'Rock Opera').

I expect most viewers watching the programme said to themselves "Hey I've got that one - and that one - and that one". And possibly "Oh no - that one was a load of crap!" :eyebrows:

Grace Slick looked shockingly old. Billy Cobham has aged much more gracefully. Some fascinating footage and a good homage to the album. I guess they couldn't fit everything in, but it was satisfying enough in content and well put together.

One thing of note they showed pressing the new Court Of The Crimson King vinyl lp both at the start and the end. More Rega turntables and arms than any other make shown. I've seen Grace Slick looking worse in recent clips. She is 73 now and being retired from music obviously doesn't see the need to work on appearances. She also had a serious digestive illness a few years ago which may account partly for her appearance.

Dusty at the Beeb is on again tonight at 22.50 (the duet with Alf Garnett was little unusual). The other two items are on Monday morning from 1.15 to 2.40. I can record them for you, if you want,
