I have no idea - there was only mention of arm height, not of arm mounting.
Got the Tonearm and Rest positionally mounted where they need to be, and drawn up the required Arm Board to replace the crappy injection moulded plastic thing on the TT - it will be 6mm thick black acrylic...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f2a243040d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...02398745af.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bba43c9883.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fd3467fa04.jpg

Good solution Mark and will certainly tidy it up and may give some more options with the tonearm?
Thanks!
I'm thoroughly enjoying myself here!!!

Moving on nicely . I bet you can't wait to hear it playing?
My simple, if unconventional fixture to the Rotary Table (bits of wood with double sided tape on both sides) worked a treat.

A fine update Mark, I wondered what happened to this project! As ever, in aww of your skills!!
Worked out the rocker switch mount for the 'three becomes one' switch required to work with my acrylic armboard. A bit of scrap ally on my milling machine.
Proper enjoying myself here!!!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a802ef2f16.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4ec5f4f2e0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...52aef76aaa.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0d686141e5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bff0d92aa5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...88e987e5c9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8f389f7dd9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9778e5cc39.jpg

Thanks for putting some great pictures up as they do tell your journey renovating this turntable very well.
Looking forward to seeing the completed project
Some more progress - butyl rubber deadening - 2 layers minimum, 3 in places.
Remarkable how long this took, and I'm not 100% finished yet!!!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...76f88e5a9e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...421605e6cf.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...50565b92ee.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0b54e4b4b9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7971d433c8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d4bcf9532a.jpg

That sound deadening material must have taken some time. I have had some good results with that type of material.
You need to be VERY careful when using damping material it's very very easy to over damp and then you have a lifeless turntable. I've made this mistake before on some of my own turntable resto's.
Mass does not stop vibration. Something as massive as our sun vibrates, these guys (I think) know what they are talking about https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/11840/ . The damping that you've applied may work extremely well, I sincerely hope it does. Your plinth may have more of a damping effect than the material you've applied to the underside of the top plate. Does your deck have mounting bolts? If so, then it might be an idea to experiment with mounting rings around the shaft of the bolt, just like in a garrard 301. TBH decoupling the motor from the top plate will probably have more of an effect than all the damping material, altough of course I can't deny/confirm this. I've found that damping key components is also really good at getting a decent sound out of these old TT's. I use Panzerholz is small amounts. I've stopped using Sorbothane as I've never been happy with it's sonic presentation. Bamboo is a nice cheap alternative and when used can give a nice sonic upgrade. Sorry if I'm waffling, some of my musings might help/hinder, you decide....
Just had another thought or two! It might be worth checking the bushing of your idler wheel (check for flat spots as well), and stripping and refurbing your motor. Both excercises are useful in stopping vibration getting into the platter.
PS I think you've been really smart with the choice of materials for your platter ;)
Really appreciate the tips - thank you!!!

Bit of cosmetics time. Masking, filling, sanding, filling, sanding, filling, sanding etc etc! You'd be surprised with the finish you can get from Halfords products. I've done a few Lenco resprays in my time and had excellent results. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!

Well, it has been a shockingly long time since I posted, and I have very 'slowly slowly catchy monkey' been playing with my project.
It's really coming along a treat now!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d9e27dce42.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...efffe8007c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8dcb3b77a8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f0065707b6.jpg

It's coming along nicely - well done! However you will have to give the deck a different name: the "Zero" referred to the design of the bi-limboid pickup arm designed to reduce the tracking error to zero - but I'm sure you already knew that.
Are there any plans for finishing off the sides of the plinth?
Ah, this project is not dead!!! :) Nice to see that your still at it. You'll have to start and see how it sounds. You'll then probably end up going down the plinth rabbit hole of what sounds best. Good luck and keep us all posted.
Thanks. Yeah, I'll think of a new name - Sub Zero is cool, but not perhaps appropriate!
The sides will be waxed or something to show off the layers of the CLD, and I have some gorgeous American Burr Walnut veneer for the top...

Thanks!
It's not perhaps about the absolute best sound - honestly my ears are pretty shot anyway (65dB loss both ears between 2kHz and 8kHz).
It's about the fun of the project really.
Next I have to choose a cartridge that matches the Jelco Arm at a price under about £200

Anyway, I'm having immense fun!
Once again, thanks for the advice.
The Arm came with this Shure M91E in the Headshell - no idea if it is in working order, the stylus cantilever is bent right backwards.
Also I read that it wasn't particularly good anyway...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3c14178811.jpg

You can buy replacement stylii for the Shure M91ED on eBay for between £15 - 33.
I wouldn't describe the M91ED as not being paticularly good, but apart from the M55E, M75ED, the V15 II (Improved) and the V15 III, I don't have any direct experience of the M90 series.
M55E, M44, and V15 mk III all excellent carts. I'd probably go for the M55E and get a decent stylus, probably get them both for £200. I've no experience of the M75ED and the V15 mk3 now go for silly money and to get the best of the V15 mk3 you'd need to spend more than your £200 budget.
