Is there any or much advantage in having the EPC205 or EPC207 which were higher up the food chain? Or is it just the stylus profiles that went with them?

I can't answer that Lee, as I have no direct experience of any Technics cartridge, but the EPC205 does have a very good reputation amongst fixed-coil designs.
