Agreed, Mike, but the content of that presentation is full of interesting nuggets even if the delivery is a little 'American'. If Paul's new DirectStream box delivers those thoughts put into practice, it's got to be worth a listen.

It's the 'American' bit that gets me. That's why I don't like reading Stereophile ;)

I picked up they are anal

- and I want that in a designer and maker of kit I buy.
They appear to me to be leading edge in technology too.
I guess the box will be a great piece kit

While the editor remains John Atkinson, there will always be an element of British-ness to it.

I also think Michael Fremer is a great advocate of vinyl.

I agree on both counts.

However, it's the trite message they portray (much like all high-end hi-fi mags do) that the newest and latest is automatically best and/or that price automatically equates to performance, coupled with the inherent 'American-ness' of their overall focus, that turns me off.

That's why we do what we do so well on AoS - and that's champion the benefits of SPPV! ;)

The magazines are in a state of terminal decline... Forums such as this are the future!
