Wow... a fantastic collection of turntables. It seems you have a penchant for flying saucer-type DD decks :) Your collection is completely understandable to me (I'm the same about reel to reel machines, though have less space!). I love your DIY JVC in particular. It looks like a really professional plinth job.

Do you have each deck matched with a particular phono stage, and switched into your amp, or do you re-connect your decks depending on which one you fancy listening to at any given time?
Simply stunning....even my partner is impressed and she is usually completely indifferent to all things audio, well done.
The SP15 intrigues me, the plinth looks great, it's acrylic I take it, if it sounds half as good as it looks you've got a real winner there,:smoking:

The AR deck looks the same as the UK "Legend" model (and was a wolf in sheep's clothing once the bearing was sorted out as I recall).
On a personal note, how does the SL150 fare in this company? In the next few months, I'm intending to get my Rega "Lustre" R200 sorted out and fitted to mine. I understand that it will need careful siting and remember it sounding fairly gentle, rather than resonant...

Regarding to phono matching, it all depends on the cartridge being used. I always try different phono stages or preamps and get a sonic picture first before the final decision to be settled, not easy though.
Most of the time I tend to partner my self-built passive preamp (DACT CT1 10K attenuator) with one of the phono stages for serious listening, it provides me a more transparent insight into the music. Of course, many people are probably not very keen on the idea of using a passive preamp in their system; they think the dynamics will be compromised. But their poison is my meat and I don’t really care.
