They may have been 'seconds' stock. Tannoy used to be a bit naughty with using components and drive units from very varied batches. Serial numbers for supposed matched driver pairs were often way apart.Quote:

Went and had a look at them, all look original but pretty tatty covers and cabs. Spoke to the guy who’d tested them but hard to ascertain if all the drivers are working as his criteria was ‘music came out of them’. What’s the going rate for a pair of these in fairly unknown condition, £100-125?Quote:

The grille cloths look the way they do because the Declon foam backing/padding has long since fallen apart allowing them to sag. Just wash the fabric, stretch it back into shape and staple into place with new padding and it's sorted. The woodwork is easy to re-polish.

Wouldn't let me buy them, got to wait for the ebay auction to finish. There was a little pile of black dust on the bottom lip of the cabinets, I'm guessing that's the backing of the fabric which has disintegrated? The drivers all looked in ok condition and the screws holding them in weren't in any way damaged so I suspect they are the original drivers. Might be worth a punt I'll wait and see how the price goes. Never heard Concertos so would love to have a listen to these.

It always amazes me that anyone buys anything from companies such as this. This is from a limited liability company established less than a year ago. Address is clearly an accommodation/registered office. It's listed as 'with warranty'. Oh yes? Who from? Certainly not from the UK Distributor and certainly not McIntosh directly. No idea from the listing where these amps actually are, if they exist at all. Would anyone seriously drop £20K for these from these company?
