I drove up from Bristol tonight to get these - they really are in lovely condition. I can't play them really loud at this time but they sound good at low levels! There is even a piece of muslin over one of the Coles, which I suspect is perhaps factory-fitted transit protection which the original owner didn't remove! I wasn't really looking for another pair of big speakers, in fact I was after DM1's but the pair I just bought have a faulty bass/mid unit, so I bought these to cheer myself up really while I wait for another pair of DM1's or EMI bass unit to turn up!

It was £3k in 2001, but just look at the engineering! Galvanic isolation (7x transformer windings feeding 16x(?) independent power supplies), extreme attention to component selection and layout, one of the best DAC chips of all time - UltraAnalog D20400A - huge custom toroidal transformer just for the output stage... I'd be willing to pay £1,500+ for it and would expect it to be a significant step up to just about anything around today! Reliability (the DAC chip has been known to fail) might be an issue and near impossible to find a replacement.

Tetleys are Indian owned now. Used to drink it. Switched to Asda's Earl Grey. Doesn't taste like it used to.

It reduces the price you're going to get for it greatly. Look, if someone marks it as for spares or repair then the bidder/buyer must make an offer or bid to reflect that it might have faults, to reflect that the possibility of having faults has been declared openly and that there is no possibility of return. If they don't take that into account, pay as if it is a brand new item with a guarantee... then that's their stupidity.
The seller wants it sold and out of the way and he's prepared to take a financial hit in order to ensure it's sale, therefore he's marked it as spares or repair. He has also given the heads up in the description that it is fully working as he is concerned, so it could be a good deal for someone.
Tell me how you instead would have sold the item if you wanted a definite sale with no possibility of return? Would you have made up a fault, been effectively dishonest, with the buyer then amazed that the false fault had fixed itself? What if the buyer then asks for a return because it's not as described because it didn't have the fault you said it had? hahaha...
