I picked up a black 717 recently too Roy. They look great and better than my silver one
Got a 'champagne' 737 in the bedroom Grant & the black looks much classier. Doesn't sound half bad either, not tried the digital out to an external DAC yet but I've only had it plumbed in for about an hour :)
a good dac will certainly improve it further Roy ...and classy is the right word..the gold on the black looks super
Cheers Grant, will try it through the Caiman 2 in a bit but it's sounding good anyway. Put a John Mayall CD on just to try it & ended up listening to all 28 tracks!

Very slightly muffled presentation if I'm honest, vinyl sounded better than cd however.

Certainly less 'lively' than the Krell but is that a good thing?
