What is it with older people worrying about their memory?
I forget stuff, everybody does, but I was probably worse when I was young. I've noticed folk over fifty saying things like 'oh my memory is definitely getting worse', which I'm sure probably isn't true, although they may have forgotten how bad it used to be :).
Is it a subconcious worry about developing Altzheimers? I reckon it could be.
I sometimes remember that I've forgotten something. Usually after the event! :)
I need to live in a bungalow, several times I've gone up the stairs to get something and can't remember what it is. Only when I go down, I remember!
Yesterday, I went out to the kitchen to write something on the shopping list pad I keep there and had completely forgotten what it was by the time I got there!
I was going to post something really relevant to this but I've forgot what it was now.
I certainly don't worry about my failing memory, as I know it's always been bad. I think my mind is constantly taking on new thoughts, as I'm sure everyone's does, but each new thought won't run side by side with the current one, rather it displaces it.
My family and friends just think it's funny - they'll say things like "He knows the year that 'Mouldy Old Dough' was released*, but ask him what he had for breakfast this morning".** I find the inconvenience annoying, but I certainly don't worry about it. Have I already said that?
I don't even think my lifestyle choices in the seventies are to blame either - I'm sure there will have been times when I went upstairs for my Meccano set and came down with my Action Man.

** Porridge I think. Or maybe cornflakes.
