This arrived for Christmas, and it is superb, March Bolan was certainly a clever chap, I was a fan 'Ride a White Swan' onwards ar the time. This first Tyrannosaurus Rex album even though using natural instruments clearly shows the direction he was going. Probably one of the first Psychedelic Rock albums along with Pink Floyd. The second record is previously un-released ,material from the time and some Peel Sessions. This re-release is very good quality, sound and sleeve, well worth getting.

The other Christmas pressie, spinning now, I and friends in listened to this again and again in 1971 when released and it still sounds fresh today, and unique in style and feel, so sad Marc passed on early, I am sure he would have been a major star like his friend David Bowie. Once again a superb re-release by Back to Black SQ excellent as is sleeve, worth every penny!
If you want a seminal Glam/Pop/Psyche rock album then this is the one, it is what set it all up for the 70's IMHO.

Marc Bolan and T Rex were IMO utter crap, as was much of the 'glam' rock of the late '60s and early '70s. Marc Bolan was an arrogant self-centred creep, who later snubbed anyone who had helped him in his career - specifically John Peel and Michael Eavis (of Glastonbury Festival fame).
Yeah, my step dad had similar views on glam rock, "Is it a boy or a girl?", and "Puffs, the lot of them", declared from his armchair, with his cardigan and all-day shirt and tie. Well, his dislike of my music tastes didn't matter to me, and still wouldn't. We like what we like.Quote:
