House spiders, as their name suggests are specifically adapted to live in buildings and will die outside which is why they come back in. They don't come up through the plug hole, they just fall in the bath. Usually we don't see much of them as they really don't want anything to do with us but during their breeding season they wander a lot.

Same could be said of house mice - but that's no reason why I should give them, or spiders, house room.

I suppose people with a phobia or who are uncomfortable around spiders would need to have them removed, although they aren't meant to live outside, and ejected spiders will either return or die. I've only just learned this (thanks Ian) and will no longer be putting them outside.

I'm told they do a great job of keeping other insect populations down, such as house flies, wasps and mosquitoes which must be a good thing. Mice on the other hand eat our food and replace it with toxic mouse shit.

To keep other insect populations down, such as house flies, wasps and mosquitoes, spiders have to build webs - and it is their webs, and the content detritus which annoy me.

I'm not willing to give house room to any creature that doesn't pay rent, or help with the Council Tax. I do however tolerate the spider that lives in the wing mirror of my car, and those that live in the garden.

Yes, I seem to get that car accessory quite frequently.

I dont mind spiders until they get too big, then they have to move out one way or t'other
