I bought both my kids UDM-30s when they went to uni. They're brilliant little units, nice sounding and nicely built. Both suffered from the volume control problem which is caused by grease in what is actually a rotary encoder, not a pot. Taking the encoder apart and cleaning it takes about half an hour. No parts needed, just a clean cloth.Quote:

I've heard them against wharfedale Diamond IV and preferred the Wharfies by a margin. The Castles were a bit boring in comparison.
