Well the Matisse is/was hand made and in limited numbers, so in that respect it is "collectable". The fit and finish is very good as you would expect from a Swiss made product.Quote:

Please find below your original text as found in your ebay-listing for this item and then what we have actually got delivered.
"Colour: White. The white enamel paintwork is outstanding, and I can state categorically that it is totally original and that it is NOT a respray. There are absolutely no dents, scratches or blemishes."
Real condition: 1,1 cm long and deep scratch (looks actually more like a deep "cut") next to the right front mounting screw. Deep chip on the left edge of the chassis.
----> "absolutely no dents, scratches or blemishes. Superb, unmarked."...??
"Platter: excellent condition and no warping."
Real condition of the platter: black paint flaked off at several points and many scratches & blemishes. The platter is cosmetically in such a condition that it can only be sandblasted and resprayed.

"The thrust plate and bearing have been re-lubricated as have all of the linkages. The turntable runs smoothly and very quietly on all three speeds."
Real condition:
Platter tilt while in rotation caused by unusually large bearing side-play -measured up to 1mm! The bearing shaft shows signs of irreparable damage that are typical for running the turntable "dry" for a long time. That is presumably the reason for the unusually large play in the bearing.
Damaged idler wheel resulting in uneven run at all speed. Resulting from the damaged bearing and idler wheel strange noise coming from the drive system and very high rumble, particularly when switching off at 33/45 rpm speed and the platter is slowing down. At 78rpm due to higher speed strange noise from damaged idler wheel and rumble are present all the time while in run.
The bearing was "dry" when delivered. Also the platter was "sitting" on the bearing shaft so tightly that we had some problems to unfit it by hand. This is a clear sign that the platter haven’t been taken off for "decades". In no way you can make us believe, that the turntable was re-lubricated and tested prior to delivery with results as described in your listing: "The thrust plate and bearing have been re-lubricated… The turntable runs smoothly and very quietly on all three speeds".
"As may be seen from the photographs, the Decca Tone Arm is in very good condition"
Real condition: marked and scratched everywhere. Rusty bearing resulting in inadequate friction.
"Cartridge: This is in working order."
Real condition: Cartridge in non-working condition, picking up signal from local radio station when connected to the preamp!
As we are an audio dealer specialized in selling complete Garrard systems and many Garrard decks are going through our hands, we can certainly distinguish a good or mint condition unit from what we call "crappy-Garrard" with mechanical problems that they only can be used for spares. We are sure that contrary to the statements made in your listing, the deck delivered had NOT been tested prior to delivery, or it had been tested but the actual condition concealed to fetch a price that would be for a non-hammerite 301-deck in cosmetically & mechanically outstanding condition. The poor mechanical condition (unusually large bearing play, damaged idler wheel) are evident directly after switching on the unit. We have looked into your previous auctions on ebay and noticed that all your Garrard listings include the same item description, in truth you use a copy-and-paste description for all your Garrard listings.
We consider your business and this purchase as a fraudulent act.
We grant you the possibility to take back this turntable and issue a full money refund.

There are IMO too many sellers on ebay trying to flog tatty samples of desirable and sought-after items.
