Nice Mordaunt Short sub for only 99p. The power socket has "been modified" as can be seen in the fourth picture but "it has been tested and turns on properly"!! :stalks:
All I can say is they're braver people than me....

If the subwoofer bass does not blow you across the room, touching the fuse might!
If I was near Eastleigh I may well bid on this subwoofer and if I got it (for a low price) would fix whatever is going on with the mains input. Surely it would not be difficult. If things did not work out the box would make a useful plant stand. :)
Crazy repair. some folk deserve to die:doh:
That's an amazing bodge up :wowzer:
Well don't go and outbid each other too much. [emoji1]

In that case I'm happy to step aside - Good luck!
I will not be bidding. Tom the coast is clear for you. :goodluck:
Set your alarm for about 4:15pm on Sunday and snipe the subwoofer.

Yeicks!
The seller shouldn't really be allowed to put it up for sale without finding the correct fuse carrier. There is caveat emptor and there is complete abrogation of responsibility!
Thanks guys I'll be using bidslammer :)

How warm does it heat to? By the time you fit the cart to the arm and get it set up it'll be back to room temperature! For people who live in Saudi can you get a cartridge cooler?
yes you could also just stick your willie in there on a cold day ;)
Yesh, yours might fit.... :eyebrows:
Marco.
Most cartridges like to operate at a temperature of 22 degC or a little more, which is why it is a good idea to have a desk light shining on the TT; not just to aid cueing, but to raise the ambient temperature.

These things took the art out of winning auctions :steam:

No reason why they can't be used with longer bolts if need be. Could be M3 size.
I used Goofbay for years . The point is , if you fancy an item and no one has bid , or someone has bid to keep in front of the bids, then keeping your powder dry by waiting till the last few seconds (which you could do by being present at the finish too , but you may be tempted to overbid)
In other words ,I have looked at items and set myself a maximum price , placed the sniper bid days before and very often forget about it !
I have many times been very pleased to see I have won ! Very embarrasingly reasonably too!
It stops you getting into a bidding war really , thats all ,IMO
I also used Goofbay until they decided to make folk pay for the service.
“In very good condition”.
Actually, no - I’m pretty sure it isn’t!

You're just being too picky about it!
Not quite eBay - Gumtree actually - but I'm so chuffed I thought I'd share on here :)

Picked up this Trio deck for a paltry £40 yesterday.
Heard it playing first - more than decent, through an early 90s NAD integrated and a pair of Castle bookshelves - and the owner actually seemed a bit reluctant, explaining he'd just bought a new Rega but there wasn't much between them.
It's got a Grado GT fitted and everything looks tickety-boo, apart from needing a good scrub.

It's actually for my gf as she's currently got one of those nasty Crossley suitcase jobs
I'm gonna get an amp and speakers and set it all up for Christmas :)
Looks good Paul. Is it going to be a surprise Christmas present for your girlfriend?
(BTW - don't store your records face down like that. Always store them vertically.)
Nice one, Paul. That's a lovely find, and a real bargain at £40. No wonder you're chuffed! Enjoy
Marco.
Yes it is a surprise.
I think I'll remove the headshell and put it in a jewelry box :eyebrows::eyebrows::eyebrows:
Before any of you advise me against that, she's a stand-up girl who's way more into music than bling. She's a mod and loves proper stuff like reggae, ska, soul and the northern thing.
As for the record storage, how very dare you !!
The photo was from the Gumtree advert - I can assure you all mine are stored vertically and always have been ;)
On that subject, I was watching American Horror Story yesterday when I had a proper fright : nothing to do with the show, but the fact that Lady Gaga's character had a turntable in her living room with a bleedin' vase sat on top of it and piles of vinyl all stacked horizontally !!
Who dresses these shows, FFS ??
And her, of all people ??

BUGGER! i lost out by £25 on a zeta tonearm today :(
I'd be surprised if you found it better than the Alphason. My mate had the Zeta and it sounded good with his Koetsu's, but I preferred the sound of my 774 with Technics EPC-305MC.
yes geoff, more of a sideways move, perhaps fate lent a hand.
these look quite nice

It's a heavier tonearm more suitable for lower compliance cartridges than either Alphason or 774. Quite my cup of tea of only it had a removable headshell.
It's not really about 'better' it's more about what you are matching it with. It would suit any of my cartridges far better than either 774 or Alphason.
On the subject of tonearms this is a reasonable one but worth £400? I think not!

You've said this before Tom. Have you actually tried a 774? They work just fine with the likes of Deccas and Denon MC's, etc. The fluid damping is not a compromise, it's an effective way of dealing with lower compliance cartridges. The sound quality speaks for itself.
I had one years ago on a Walker CJ55. Admittedly not in the main system. It didn't shine for me, unmemorable really. But I can't honestly say I've tried one in earnest with a top flight cartridge on a high-end deck.
However I'm so wedded to cartridge swapping (a sizeable chunk of my vinyl is mono) that going without removable headshell would be unthinkable for me these days (hence forking out big bucks for the Ikeda) - so the comparison is academic for me, I'm never likely to buy one.
I do like the Zeta though as you say, works fab with Koetsus, Kisekis, Denon 103s and the like, but you wouldn't want to stick a Shure V15 on it.
I'm on record as having had serial disappointment with Deccas as well so I guess I'm well out of step with the general consensus of the forum.
