That seems expensive to me. It is definitely worth researching.

well its a fully auto I think. Might not make the greatest coffee in world but it will make decent stuff and it is fairly idiot-proof. Not a bad option tbh.

No, I like it too, but would probably rather have something that was more 'hands on', and looked traditionally Italian! We'll see... I'll certainly be doing plenty of research on it :)

Indeed, which will suit me :D

Actually, Grant, it makes great coffee, as the suite we had in the hotel we went to in Austria last year, for our silver wedding anniversary, had one in it (one of the reasons Del likes it), so I can speak from experience there. I'd want to experiment with beans, though :)

The Melitta Varianza does the same thing, and comes recommended from someone who knows about coffee machines, and will save you lots of cash.

Its an interesting question, Do you want the coffee or the making of it or both. if its mainly the first then thats the one for you:)

Haven't really thought about it, Grant. I guess the interesting part for me will be experimenting with different varieties of beans, and becoming au fait with the different flavours, just like with grapes (and wine), so I want to 'get into' that side of things in a fairly serious way.

I'm not so bothered about making the actual coffee, *as long* as the machine concerned does a good enough job (for me). Plus, as we entertain a lot, a fully automatic machine will save time when we're both busy doing other things :)
