My name 'Jerrykan' comes from my childhood love of making models of German WWII armour. The jerrycan is the ubiquitous metal 20 litre container for fuel and water. Designed in Germany in the '30s for the Wehrmacht it is now used worldwide. A white cross painted on the side denoted it is carrying drinking water.
Jerrykan is my online gamer tag, I like shooting people with an M16 from a distance, online of course.
My interest in hi-fi started when I was about 20 and bought my first system, a JVC ghetto blaster that had a phono input for a Sony deck. When I got my first job I got a NAD 3020, a Dual 505 TT and a pair of secondhand DIY Tannoy loudspeakers ( gert big things with a 12" woofer ). I still love vinyl but find the durability of CD very useful.
My digital system now approaches that vinyl sound I love - an Audio Synthesis DAX Decade DAC, Tri-Chord modded TEAC VRDS 25 CD player / transport, a Primare SPA21 amp ( the only 5.1 amp that sounds good in 2 channel) and a pair of Usher 6371 Compass speakers.
Interconnects are a Chris Venhaus design home-brew ( I AB'd against Nordost, Chord Co and Kimber and they stand up very well ).
I like listening to modern jazz, ( ECM, Coltrane and Davis, Mehldau, Metheny ) also Four Tet, Radiohead and folksy stuff ( Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, Laura Marling and Creedence Clearwater Revival ).
Looking to get another valve amp now my kids are a little older, I still make models and have my stereo on nearly all evening most evenings whilst I work on my next 'masterpiece'.
My much younger wife accepts my need for an awesome sounding rig, she also has a penchant for jazz and can hear the difference between Black Ravioli and Aurios Media Isolation Bearings, a quality I find highly attractive.

Then let me re-phrase, the only 5.1 amp I have heard under 2 grand that is good at 2 channel stereo.
