I like the words of this song for the way that they sound, rather than any meaning that they may or may not convey.
I tend to prefer music without words, or at least without words in English - I like the sounds that people can make when they sing/speak, but often the significance of those words distracts me from that. In this case, the words are pretty much gibberish, and often they're sung so quickly that it's hard to discern the meanings, and so one can just enjoy the sounds :)
Clouddead - Rifle Eyes
A murder of mosquitoes, moths, and gnats ravage the fluorescent flickering ribs of a motel lot flood light, their frantic trajectories perfectly sketching insane in its halogen corona.
No collision... no drinking of bulbs at long last... just a panicked moon drove dance they bang their insect eyes and mind at in the dark.
Note: It takes an Extended Stay America's common black self cleaning line of ants approximately 1 & 2/3rd's hours to completely excavate the fresh kill carcass of a large New Orleans cricket.
Point: Minnows have teeth in their throats...
Thrice we passed this truck all packed with pigs... this truck is always packed with pigs.
You can not tell nor ask a pear tree that it might only have the bird's nests happen to its branches.
Have you ever marveled through the pretty pith of your turned around eye at the bug blood gut modern art on the fender of your country crossing rental van?
It then becomes self evident that nature is responsible...
To peel deer from desert fun...
To sleep through vulture mouths...
Its femur like a chopstick through the paper.
Nightcrawlers all dried up
On the summer sun sidewalk.
An ant with a little bit of leaf
Looks like an ant with an African mask.
The red raw salmon steak
In the gas station urinal.
A full feathered dead pigeon
With its entire skull exposed.
A single long stemmed rose
Resting between two mounted antlers.
A spider spitting web
On a styrofoam snowman's head.
Car salesmen asleep in their cars
On lunch-break under the highway on-ramp.
The x-ray of someone's tumored skull
Left to scream doom from the gutter
With all the other preventative waste,
No name no face.
All the oil drills
On some sick sedated rhythmic robot rape mode
Like brain-washed flies at a carcass.
The highway shoulder dead dog's
Fly devoured eyeballs
As garnish to a four lane state road,
And all the southern Cali orange trucks
Headed to somewhere there's winter.
One armed men changing tires in the shoulder
For pretty ladies and their well dressed daughters;
Engine oil boiling,
Undercarriage eaten by a billion ants of rust,
Bacteria gang-banging in the window cracks.

Joe
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died
Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long stem rose
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you've been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you've been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your clothes
And everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
And everybody knows that it's now or never
Everybody knows that it's me or you
And everybody knows that you live forever
Ah when you've done a line or two
Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old black joe's still pickin' cotton
For your ribbons and bows
And everybody knows
And everybody knows that the plague is coming
Everybody knows that it's moving fast
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past
Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there's gonna be a meter on your bed
That will disclose
What everybody knows
And everybody knows that you're in trouble
Everybody knows what you've been through
From the bloody cross on top of calvary
To the beach of malibu
Everybody knows it's coming apart
Take one last look at this sacred heart
Before it blows
And everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Oh everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows

The Grand Wazoo
Last Friday morning I was talking to a guy who had been in the army and had served in the Falklands. We talked about all sorts of things as the radio news was on in the background. The news was full of the recent death of a certain ex-Prime Minister and his expression changed when mention was made of the Falklands.
What he said next reminded me of this song:
'Easter Parade' - The Faith Brothers
Dressed to kill one cool spring morning
Got on board the first from Portsmouth
On the crest of a rising wave
Of hate for strangers of our own kind
But the headlines, cheering crowds and flags
I must admit stirred something in me
That faded as we pulled away
And turned out to be only fear disguised
The bulldogs bayed
The pious prayed
I think it rained
On the Easter Parade
Down south the old and desperate men
Sacrifice the young and ready
On the altar of their crumbling gods
Mourning for a long-lost glory
For nineteen years you chart my life
With your morals and your incentives
In six weeks pull it all apart
For horror's real and you are far away
My mind ingrained
I came home maimed
So was kept away
From the Easter Parade
Hooked on a kind of freedom
I still need to hurt somebody
Too estranged to talk about it
Or get close to anyone
The mother of the nation cries 'Rejoice!'
And I can hardly shuffle
Struck down by what the mean can do
For political ambition
And now the truth begins to surface
Like a spectre from dark water
Rising up to bring them down
I can't take heart, only wonder why
Is our conscience lame
Is a fall to shame
All to be gained
From the Easter Parade

Coverdale Page - Over Now
Great song -
You said you'd give me love
Instead you caused me pain
You made me curse and slam the door
And hang my head in shame
But, it's over now, it's over now
You talked to me of virtue
And sang a song so sweet
All I know is I could smell
The perfume of deceit
It's over now, it's over now
You told me of your innocence
And I believed it all
But your best friend is your vanity
And the mirror on the wall
It's over now
I turned away from what I heard
And everything I saw
Now I see the light of day
I release the dog of war
So whatcha gonna do
When the truth pays you a call?
How you gonna feel
When you finally lose it all?
How you gonna look
Standing up against the wall
Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna say
When you feel the hammer fall? I'm gonna see you crawl
You took your pills and washed them down
And then you talked for hours
I tried to build a garden
But you trampled all the flowers
And it's over now
Wanting this, needing that
Always after more, now that it's all over
I release the dog of war
I release the dog of war
So whatcha gonna do
When the truth pays you a call?
How you gonna look
Standing up against the wall?
Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna say
When you feel the hammer fall?
Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna say
Standing up against the wall?
So whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna say
Mamma, when you feel the hammer fall?
So whatcha gonna do?
