No sign of 'panic buying' here in London, though I did notice several items sold out in my local Co-op (mostly 'ready meals', of which I have little need).
Fortunately we buy all our fruit and veg fresh from a greengrocer, and there are no shortages of any of that to be seen. Meat is always bought fresh from a butcher.
I suspect it is only in supermarkets where people go for the convenience of a "one stop shop", where you will see shortages; and of course with the fulfilment of orders by delivery companies.
I agree on all counts, and our food buying habits are largely the same, so really won't be affected by any shortages. However, until the shortage in CO2 is resolved, look out for pubs running out of beer!:eek:

As an aside, we popped into a pub this lunchtime for a beer and was saddened to learn that a lot of the pubs in London are no longer serving draught beer. It seems that these pubs are 'managed' and the staff either too lazy or ignorant to keep and look after the beers; so it's either lagers on tap or bottled beer. They blame it all on Covid, but I noticed the trend occurring before the pandemic started.
BTW I had a glass of Staropramen lager; which being a beautiful summer's day here today, slipped down very nicely. :)
Much to my disappointment, I have to avoid alcohol these days for medical reasons. A bit disheartening really as I really enjoy a beer!

Local butcher, home-brew, baking and growing your own is the way to go - it just makes sense in terms of quality, cost, "air -miles" and knowing what is in whatever you are consuming - we've had the industrial revolution with food stuffs, perhaps it is time to get closer to "the old ways" (without scurvy, e-coli etc :lol:)
Indeed, mate. It's exactly what we've been doing for the last goodness knows how long, and intensified this year with growing much more of our own produce. By the end of next year, local butcher aside, we want to be almost totally self-sufficient.
It also feels much more like living, as opposed to existing. It makes you value things more and appreciate nature.
Shopping physically in supermarkets is soulless enough, never mind sitting at home, clicking on a mouse, and surviving off of food deliveries and Amazon! Fair enough, if you have NO other choice because of a disability, but otherwise it's a rather dull existence.

jimmy yancey was good pianist.... clarence gatemouth brown was amazing too. Mainly a guitarist but multiinstrumentalist too. The others you'll know plenty about.

It can work the other way however - I used to drink Dutch Oranjeboom lager a lot in the '80s, but when I asked to try the same when I visited Holland I was told it would be disappointed as Oranjeboom export all their best lager to the UK. :doh:
