Those VRDS machines look bomb, and bullet-proof, and they don't sound too bad either. :)
I've had a VRDS 25X for well over 10 years and it's never let me down. Can't really go wrong.
Had VRDS10 back in the day. Very nice machine and build quality strong despite of some cd tray belt issues. However these are still fully serviceable today I think..
There's one going for £500 but I've been resisting temptation.

About 35 in each tower and 12 towers so approx 420 albums. Think I might split genres rather than just do a straight A to Z as previously.
Jazz, Rap/Hip-Hop and then everything else?
I have my CD collection divided into genre, as I do with my LP collection. I do it because I have very broad tastes in music. So the divisions are:
Classical
Blues (including early R&B)
Jazz
Folk
'World', and anything culturally ethnic
Pop and Rock (all categories).
I find it convenient, because if l'm playing something with guests and they like what they hear, then I can follow it with something similar. Conversely, if they would prefer to hear something different, I can find that too.
Bummed... not heard that in many years.
Oh no, trying to sort into genres would properly do my head in. If your towers are those 'chrome wirey' kind of things I can see that being a PITA.
This what you need: 480 CDs storage, 70 quid. Nail it to the wall, job done.
