I have an Ariston arm, it's very good, on a BD1

I remember attempting to listen to Roger Whittaker singing 'The Last Farewell' on some Corellis and I don't think I've heard him quack so much singing this particular track. Interestingly, he actually sings rather than quacks on this track whilst I listen on the latest speakers I own, namely Spendor SP2/3r2....which employ polyprop bass/mid drivers.
I still prefer my Rogers LS3/6 / Export Monitors with Bextrene bass units to the Rogers LS7 which has a polypropylene unit.
Another scam?

I am fighting hard against taking them myself, as I would love to hear them...
What's the scam putting really expensive gear on auction but only bin at silly prices, wire transfer, based in Taiwan, lots of feedback. It has to be a scam right?
yeah the 800's are pretty good for 200.

set of Corellis
Platine Verdier with triplanar - auction but wants bin at 1350€ - only communicate outside of eBay. I asked for much shipping would be - I received confirmation of purchase, an eBay invoice from the seller and a demand for a moneygram transfer. I can't report him on my mobile but he needs reporting.

Reported.
I'm confused - the eBay listing is still running with 8 hours to go. Current bid is 306 Euro.
Looks suspicious to me!
EBay act like Molasses in wintertime;)
It's reported and eBay needs to take it down - god knows how many people have sent money via moneygram to him. No way of tracing the recipient. It says located in US,/but postage says from Hong Kong. But the eBay invoice he sent me (not eBay) came from a British email account. In his email ( he sent 4) he says he had supplied the details to eBay so I was covered by my purchase (which I'd never made).
In the listing it says he will remove any bids because he wants buy it now - all said in an image so bots don't find it.
It's a scam without doubt -looking at his other items I'd say everything is stolen or taken from other listings or its a hijacked account.
Agree $1,500 is a suspiciously low price for such an item. The arm alone could easily fetch that.
Having looked at the 'eBay' email he sent me it has my registered delivery address on it. How can he have obtained it? He says he has told eBay about the purchase to enrol us in buyer protection and that they have contacted me - they haven't and according to my account I've not made a purchase.
The moneygram payment is to be sent to an address in Cardiff, a guy called Samuel Still. Yet the turntable is in California or China?
If I was in the UK I'd probably call the Cardiff police and ask them to investigate.
Confused.
Ok I just checked the email address the 'ebay' email was sent from, it was registered with a domain company called namecheap in MAY of this year.
Unfortunately there is no way to explain everything to eBay - just a crappy report item form with pre defined reasons. This guy is scamming people and somehow getting their registered details.
Angry.
id give them a call mate
Ebay have confirmed the email is fraudulent - and done nothing about the seller. angry
give them time.. they aint the quickest in town. it will likely be gone tomorrow
Gone now ;)
There's a similar scam for a pair of McIntosh MC275 amps on U.K. EBay. I've reported them about 10 times to EBay. Being sold under different accounts each time. Someone must have hacked a lot of EBay accounts.
they've robbed the pic and description from the uk listing of the supex sd-900 super ive bought a few times! BIN of £25!! lol
What worries me is that the fake email this guy sent me had my delivery address - the only way he could have it is if he hacked my account. If I report that then my account will be out of use for up to 6 weeks. Though it may be the only way to shut him down.
The frustrating thing is that here in Spain I could get a tel number on eBay.co.uk but when I dialed it it cut me dead because I was calling from Spain and we are supposed to have our own number - but the Spanish site is different and no way could I get hold of it to report this tw*t.
I've changed my passwords on eBay and PayPal - but maybe if I report it as hacked more action will be taken.
EBay is crap at dealing with this.
So do I - and the spare 13k to buy it.
Lovely amp, I bet it performs well.
Re Ebay, I think they are pretty idiotic. A few years ago I sold about 10 pairs of ex BBC and Rogers speakers for a friend which he had accumulated, we using Ebay for selling.
After the sales my account was frozen and I was accused of stealing them, followed by Paypal freezing my account and accusing me of money laundering.
Ebay asked me to to prove ownership, and fortunately my friend had receipts for most, many purchased from, yes, Ebay, so they actually had records themselves of these events.
I had to threaten Paypal with litigation, and eventually they reinstated me, and gave me £50 compensation.
The really ridiculous part is that they asked me to get my bank to verify me, who would only do so by post, whilst Paypal would only accept communication by Email, so they wouldn't talk to each other, and I was stuck in the middle.
Concerning eBay emails please do not sign in using the links in the email, always switch to a browser or app. Reason being some scam emails being apparently sent from eBay will ask you to log in by pressing on a link within the email, your log in details will be stolen by a third party...I cannot stress this enough. eBay will not help if any money is stolen through this method your PayPal if connected will be vulnerable too.
You could have bought my Yamaha PC-5002M on eBay a couple of weeks ago for about 10% of the price of that. Yes, it's uglier, but it's exactly the same internally!
Two weeks on and the new owner still shows no signs of coming to collect it, so there's a slim chance it might be available once more... :eyebrows:

Understanding ebay HiFi terminology
rare------ because most of them got slung in a skip for being shite
British made------ from cheap Chinese bits
untested------ you know as well as I do that it's shagged
tidy------ not quite as chewed up as the other bits I'm selling here
intergrated------ I can't spell
hi end------ was more than forty quid new
upgraded------ I've been fucking about with it
stunning------ I'm prone to exaggeration
Hi-Fi------ it makes a noise
requires minor attention------ parts no longer avaiable
genuine original------ outdated
celebrity owned------ so I'm asking a grand more than it's worth
single speaker------ where's the other one then?
bargain------ but dearer than the other dozen on offer
virtually unused------ nobody can figure out how it works
job lot------ I do house clearance
amazing------ pretty average
sort after------ I can't spell and don't know what I'm talking about
retro------ it has imitation wood on it
pre owned------ he's probably a used car dealer
amplifire------ I still can't spell
vintage------ old and knackered
you will not find better------ oh yes I will
.
Yeah that big yam is a cracker.
Trio KA-501 integrated amplifier. Looks in nice condition. Bit of a genuine classic these, very good sound quality and build. Decent power too.
Listing ends very soon. Bid up to £132 so far and well worth bidding more on in my opinion. In Devon.

But its still hugely popular, it puts seller s and buyers together like nothing else! I have ben lucky so far on ebay I suppose, though I did buy a
record once in spankingly good condition, apparently ?, that had a massive wide scratch right through the middle of it !!
That was funny though Geoff, the wit and wisdom of Southallians knows no bounds !!
